Men fought overwhelming odds, devistating natural disasters and government intervention to obtain possession of the gold found in Alaska.

Claim jumpers and lawyers swarmed.  Disputed claims were placed in government receivership.  Tons of gold, shipped to the states labled "fish" or "furs",  were never accounted for. 

Shadows of suspicion fell across the Capitol dome and a President was mysteriously assasinated.
